Kara Anton
From her earliest memories, Kara Anton was immersed in the captivating world of the arts. By five, she was mesmerized by Pablo Picasso's bold strokes and fearlessly began painting on large canvases, creating works three-times her size. Born in Royal Oak, Michigan and raised in Laguna Beach, California, Kara embarked on a lifelong love affair with creativity.
Since 2021, Kara has been painting in Stockbridge, MA. She also extends her passion by facilitating after-school art programs, working primarily with elementary youth for the past 7+ years. She has taught through Berkshire Art Center and continues to provide art programming through the non-profit organization, Give Kids Art (givekidsart.org). In her role, she empowers children’s social-emotional growth and emphasizes the significance of art as a medium for expressing emotions that might elude words or remain unspoken.
Kara's artistic essence is a dance — a rhythm coursing through her spirit, urging her to move. Much like the call of the wild, the untamed, and the authentic, her canvases breathe with life. Drawing inspiration from abstract expressionists, she channels the fervor of action painting, celebrates the beauty in imperfection (wabi-sabi), and embraces the boundless creativity of childhood. Her work, a symphony of mediums, themes, and techniques, is a visual memoir — a series of frozen frames capturing memories of feelings and moments of pure, unfiltered creation.
Rooted in her Greek and Italian heritage, Kara's name embodies the essence of Joy and Beloved. Through her art, she aspires to share this joy (Χαρά in Greek) by infusing her work with vibrant, hopeful energy and a depth of colors.
