Barbara Patton

As an art educator for 25 years, Barbara was always looking for new ways to approach the art experience. After taking a workshop on alternative firing techniques for ceramics, she was hooked. It was both captivating and challenging to perfect and obtain an ideal finished piece. Her work is fired quickly with a rush of flame, smoke and excitement. Several finishing methods are used combining both eastern and western raku techniques in an outdoor gas fired kiln. Using both natural and chemical materials and various forms and surfaces, she creates intense and varied works of art.

Each piece is unique and decorative only. No glazes are used. They are finished only with wax or a stone sealer and therefore are not food safe.
